The patient had sigmoid polyps discovered on screening flexible
sigmoidoscopy. He denies hematochezia, melena, abdominal pain, change
in bowel habits or appetite, and weight loss. Informed consent was obtained
by the colonoscopist just prior to the procedure. Risks, benefits, and alternatives
were discussed in a 3 minute conversation witnessed by the nurse.
