Slide 1 - A fine needle
aspiration was performed under EUS guidance and this specimen was obtained.
The cytology shows features of adenocarcinoma.
Slide 2 - The patient went
to surgery. There was no evidence of distant tumor spread. However, the tumor
was adherent to the portal vein. A Whipple procedure was performed. The tumor
was dissected off of the protal vein. There was no obvious tumor left behind.
All nodes were negative. As shown in this slide, the tumor showed the features
of poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma.
Slide 3 - Poorly differentiated
adenocarcinoma with perineural involvement.
