Boost your child's body image

Promote healthy eating

  • Offer three meals a day with snacks as necessary
  • Be very concerned if your teen diets, especially if he or she is at a normal weight

Promote self-esteem and positive body image

  • Be constructive without being critical
  • Always promote you child's well being by never being critical of his or her size

Examine your own attitudes about weight and shape

  • Do you think you are fat?
  • How much does this influence how you feel about yourself?
  • Do you think your child is fat?
  • What does this say about you if your child is fat?

Examine television programming to see what media message is brought into your home

  • Discuss this with your child
