Boost your child's body image
Promote healthy eating
- Offer three meals a day with snacks as necessary
- Be very concerned if your teen diets, especially if he or she is at a normal weight
Promote self-esteem and positive body image
- Be constructive without being critical
- Always promote you child's well being by never being critical of his or her size
Examine your own attitudes about weight and shape
- Do you think you are fat?
- How much does this influence how you feel about yourself?
- Do you think your child is fat?
- What does this say about you if your child is fat?
Examine television programming to see what media message is brought into your home
- Discuss this with your child
