Baylor scientists team with teachers

Houston elementary school science teachers are joining forces with Baylor College of Medicine scientists to improve science teaching and learning in the community.

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute awarded Baylor a grant to support the next four years of the College’s Science Education leadership Fellows program. Baylor was one of 19 institutions nationwide to receive an HHMI grant supporting science education within the community. The total amount awarded for grants nationally was $10 million.

Developed by the Center for Educational Outreach and The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Baylor, the SELF program promotes interaction between Houston Independent School District elementary teachers, Baylor graduate students and postdoctoral fellows through science education improvement teams.
