| Collaboration with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)/World Health Organization (WHO) Because
of its leadership and commitment to international activities,
the Department of Family & Community Medicine has been
invited by the World Health Organization to submit a proposal
for becoming a WHO Collaborating Center for Family and Community
Medicine, especially in the areas of primary care training,
research, and professional development.
The focus of the Center will be on providing opportunities
for faculty development and teaching of primary care and family
medicine, improving the processes of primary health care through
the Family Health Model, and measuring, documenting, and improving
the outcomes of primary health care.
The
Pan American Health Organization http://www.paho.org/
commissioned the Department of Family and Community Medicine
at Baylor to conduct a survey on the status of Family Health
and Family Medicine in the region of the Americas. Results of the survey will provide critical
information and analysis to PAHO/WHO to assist in the formulation
of a regional initiative aimed at strengthening the practice
of family health through the development of qualified professionals. |
