| International Consultation in Primary Care, Family Health, and Family Medicine In
addition to its work with the Pan American Health Organization/World
Health Organization, the Department of Family and Community
Medicine provides international consultation for the implementation
of clinical primary health care services, the process of education
in Family Medicine for medical schools and residency training
programs, and also for continuing medical education in primary
care. These efforts are led by Drs. Stephen Spann,
Bob Parkerson, Carlos Vallbona, and Marconi Monteiro, but
involve many other faculty in the Department from diverse
backgrounds and disciplines. Currently, the Department has been asked by
the Dean of the School of Medicine of the Universidad Central
de Honduras to help implement a family medicine residency
program. Additionally, various Departmental faculty will visit El Salvador
over a period of two months in the winter of 2002 to provide
faculty development and continuing medical education.
