Mission
Our mission is to enhance the health of the population and advance the discipline of primary care by providing excellent and innovative teaching of primary health care to learners. We achieve this by delivering high quality, family- and community-oriented primary health care; and by discovering new knowledge which will contribute to the improvement of processes and outcomes of the care which we render.

New clinic provides care for local office janitors
Houston Service Worker's Clinic on KUHF Houston aired Sept. 7. Five months after it opened, a health clinic devoted entirely to the care of local office janitors has seen remarkable results in getting what are usually medically underserved workers into the doctor's office more often. "You First" Physician of Year award
Clinical Excellence: Simon Whitney, M.D., J.D., wins the "You FIRST" Physician of the Year award. Whitney spends the bulk of his time in research, but still maintains a clinical practice to bring his highfalutin theories down to earth with a dose of reality. A native of New York and nine-year veteran at BCM, he gets his strongest source of inspiration from his patients. Judges chose Dr. Whitney because he refuses to accept "no" for an answer and he has accepts his patients completely. Aside from his research and clinical work, Dr. Whitney is writing a book about the system of regulating medical research.
