Procedures for Children & Adolescents

Otoplasty

Otoplasties are typically performed to place prominent or outstanding ears closer to the head and to reduce the size of large ears. The operation can be performed on children as young as four years of age, although older children as well as adults can be helped with this surgery. Otoplasty may be used to correct large or stretched earlobes, and lobes with large creases and wrinkles. It is also possible to construct new ears for patients who have birth defects of the outer ear or defects due to injury or burns. These procedures last two to three hours and are typically performed under general anesthesia.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) is often an effective option for adolescents looking to correct humps on the nose or straighten a crooked nose. Rhinoplasty can boost self-confidence and minimize teasing from peers. It should not be performed until the patient's growth spurt is complete.
