How to Nominate a Faculty Member

Part I

To nominate a faculty member for the Presidential Award for Excellence In Education, at least two individuals (students, faculty, alumni, or staff) must jointly sign a letter of nomination and submit a copy of the nominee's biosketch and current curriculum vitae. At least one of these signatories must be a member of the BCM faculty. Previous recipients of the Barbara and Corbin J. Robertson, Jr. Presidential Award for Excellence In Education are not eligible for nomination.

Prior to preparing a nomination for the Robertson Award, please read, in detail, the eligibility criteria for nomination and the educational criteria. Nomination letters should specifically support how the nominee meets the aforementioned sets of criteria.

Part II

If selected as a candidate upon initial review by the selection committee, the dean of Medical Education Office will contact the nominating individuals and request that they submit the names of five individuals to be asked to write letters of recommendation on the candidate's behalf. At least three of these individuals must be faculty at Baylor College of Medicine.

  • For each individual, include full name, title, affiliation, address and phone number and email addresses.
  • In consultation with the candidate, select individuals that know the candidate's work at Baylor, are well established in the College or in the candidate's discipline, and represent, as a group, a diversity of perspectives.
  • You should establish, together with your nominators, a list of individuals you would like letters to be requested from, prior to the date for notification of nominees selected for further review.

While the committee will review all of a candidates’ materials, it is anticipated that the letters of recommendation will have a great influence on the final selection of award recipients.
