Selection Criteria
Baylor College of Medicine, The University of Texas-Houston Medical School, and the University of Texas-Houston Dental School seek applicants for the 2003-2004 MTFP who are highly motivated individuals dedicated to education and interested in developing educational and teaching skills.

I.

 

Qualified applicants will be selected (1) on a first come first serve basis until the class is filled and (2) on an evaluation of how well he/she meets the following criteria:
  1. Evidence of a commitment to education in one or more of the following areas: direct teaching, instructional design, course development, educational research or administration.

2. A faculty appointment or the likelihood of a faculty appointment.

3. Ability to commit 10% professional time to the program.

II.

Applicants must submit a letter of interest addressing the following areas:
1. How the MTFP will have a lasting, positive impact on you as an educator and on your contribution to learners, individual departments, and the overall College (e.g., teaching, educational leadership, educational scholarship)?

2. How well the MTFP will further your professional goals (What role do you see educational endeavors taking in your professional career?)

Applicants must also submit a letter of endorsement by the Department Chair and/or Section Head explicitly stating that he/she understands that the MTFP requires a 10% time commitment for the duration of the program.

Submitted applications will be reviewed within 4 to 6 weeks by members of the Master Teacher Fellowship Advisory Committee.

As part of the selection process, effort will be made to interview applicants to enhance communication about the applicant's interest in and understanding of the specific requirements of the Master Teacher Fellowship Program.
