Graduation Requirements

Meeting the following requirements, fellows would be eligible to receive 9 hours of graduate credit to apply toward the Masters of Education Program (or a similar program).

1. Participation
 


A. At least 80% attendance at the MTFP sessions (Introductory retreat, retreat follow-up sessions, and monthly sessions).

B. Attendance at a minimum of 24 hours of mini-fellowships and workshops listed as Initiatives for Educator Development at http://www.bcm.edu/fac-ed/master_calendar.html . In consultations with his/her mentor, fellows are strongly encouraged to attend courses in both areas of (1) teaching and evaluation and (2) curriculum development and educational leadership.

C. Appropriate contribution to discussions.

D. Thoughtful preparation through out-of-class reading when required.

II. Products/Presentations
     
A. Two Formative Products must be chosen from the following:
   

1. Portfolio documenting application of principles and strategies of effective educational practice relevant to sessions attended. (Preparation of a mini-portfolio for the Fulbright & Jaworski Faculty Excellence Award may meet this course requirement.)

2. Paper on topic relevant to initiatives sessions attended. Paper topic requires prior approval by fellow's mentor.

3. Report of completed independent project relevant to sessions attended. Project requires prior approval of fellow's mentor.

4. Formative products will be presented to the other fellows at one of the regular monthly sessions.

 
B. Summative product:
   

1. Fellows must complete an Independent Educational Project and submit a one- to two-page written abstract to the directors. A listing of the projects of former fellows may be viewed at http://public2.bcm.tmc.edu/mtfp/search_projects.cfm

2. Abstracts will be presented as a poster or talk at the Colloquium held in January 2005.

III. Peer Review of Actual Teaching
     
A. Fellows must initiate peer review of their teaching three times (approximately every 5 months) of the MTFP curriculum.
