Choosing a Category

You must choose a category and decide whether you have sufficient evidence of your accomplishments at Baylor, especially in the past three-five years, to submit an application.

  1. Compare the emphasis of your activities with those of the award categories.

Because there is some overlap in the educational activities between categories, you must decide which category best reflects the bulk of the work you have done. The majority of the "evidence" you include in your mini-portfolio must come directly from this category. However, you can include accomplishments from other categories that have an impact on or are positively related to the accomplishments in the category you have chosen.

Keep in mind that over time you can apply for awards in more than one category and that you can also reapply for the same category after you have sufficiently accumulated more accomplishments (usually three-five years), however, you cannot use a specific or time-based accomplishment in more than one application.
  2. Carefully review the available examples for the chosen category. Develop a sense of the quality, quantity, and breadth of accomplishments they represent.
