Educational Scholars Fellowship Program

Graduation Requirements

Meeting the following requirements, fellows would be eligible to receive nine hours of graduate credit to apply toward the Masters of Education Program (or a similar program).

Participation

  1. At least 80 percent attendance at the ESFP sessions (Introductory retreat, retreat follow-up sessions, and monthly sessions).
  2. Attendance at a minimum of 24 hours of mini-fellowships and workshops listed as Initiatives for Educator Development on the Fac-Ed Workshop calendar. In consultations with his/her mentor, fellows are strongly encouraged to attend courses in both areas of (1) teaching and evaluation and (2) curriculum development and educational leadership.
  3. Appropriate contribution to discussions.
  4. Thoughtful preparation through out-of-class reading when required.

Products/Presentations

  1. Participate in the planning and presentation of a faculty development workshop.
  2. Conduct two Educational Journal Club sessions.
  3. Maintain a reflective journal.
  4. Submit in writing an Independent Educational Project proposal no later than month 18 of the fellowship.
  5. Complete an independent Education Project and sumit a one- to two-page written abstract to the directors. A listing of the projects of former fellows may be viewed at http://www.bcm.edu/fac-ed/mtfp/mtfp_fellows.html.
  6. Abstracts will be presented as a poster at a Colloquium held in October 2007.

Peer Review of Actual Teaching

  1. Fellows must initiate peer review of their teaching four times (approximately every six months) of the ESFP curriculum.
