Curriculum Components

ESFP session - attendees sitting around a tableThe ESFP consists of three components:

Component 1

Includes 20 hours of introductory sessions held in September and October of the first year plus monthly meetings of three hours beginning in January. These sessions will cover a wide range of educational topics such as:

  • Curriculum and Instruction - Writing Goals and Objectives, Curriculum Design, Team Learning, Improving Large Group Teaching, Small Group Teaching, Feedback/Difficult Learner, and Remediation.
  • Evaluation - Measuring Outcomes, ACGME Competencies, Program Evaluation, Performance Based Evaluation, Writing Effective Multiple Choice Questions, and Focus Group Evaluations.
  • Activities of a Professional Teacher - Educational Research, Understanding Educational Statistics, and Documenting Teaching/The Teaching Portfolio.

Component 2

Requires participants to choose 24 hours of Committee for Educator Development workshops (see calendar) which will most enhance their skills as medical educators.

Component 3
