Educator Peer Review

Overview

The Committee for Faculty Development has undertaken initiatives to enhance our educational activities. Peer Coaching and review are cornerstone components of these efforts with a designated subcommittee directed to focus on this area and bring this dialogue to the wider college faculty.

Committee members are available to present an educator peer coaching and review overview at departmental meetings and to groups of faculty around the college and can provide faculty a common understanding of key concepts, considerations, and resources.

Educator peer review is particularly valuable as a mechanism for the continuing improvement of faculty educational skills. We envision that this formative or developmental focus will become a routine component of Baylor’s ongoing educational faculty development. In addition, documentation from this process can be used by faculty applying for teaching awards and/or promotion and tenure. The heart of this process is a colleague-based interchange, initiated by an educator.

Reference materials are provided on this site for faculty who desire to become more familiar with the educator peer coaching literature as well as web links to sites on educator peer mentoring and review topics at other schools and organizations.
