The Department of Ophthalmology and the Cullen Eye Institute are dedicated to being one of the nation's pre-eminent facilities when it comes to education, research, clinical care, and public service. We provide educational programs for ophthalmology residents and fellows, medical and graduate students, research scientists, and practicing ophthalmologists; support research in the structure, function, and diseases of the eye and the visual system; offer the highest quality eye care available; and sponsor public programs for prevention of eye disease and injury.
Our clinics are state-of-the art and leaders in the study and practice of eye care.
Participants Sought for Dry Eye Research Study
You may qualify for the study if you:
- Are post menopausal, female and 40 years or older
- Suffer from moderate to severe dry eyes
- Do not wear contact lenses
- Are in generally good and stable overall health and on a stable medication routine
- Are available for 4 study-related exams during a 6-month trial

Prosthetic Replacement of the Ocular Surface Ecosystem (PROSE)

The Cullen Eye Institute and the Department of Ophthalmology is one of only seven sites in the United States which now offers the PROSE (prosthetic replacement of the ocular surface ecosystem) in collaboration with the Boston Foundation for Sight. PROSE is a pioneering treatment model developed to restore vision, support healing, reduce symptoms and improve quality of life for patients suffering with complex corneal disease. The availability of this new treatment is under the direction of Dr. Stephen C. Pflugfelder and Dr. Anisa Gire.
