Super Ovulation and Plugging Schedule

Day Time Step
Thursday 1:00 p.m. PMSG injection
Saturday 11:00 a.m.
    Pregnyl injection; Set up one female per male immediately following Pregnyl injection
Sunday Before 10:00 a.m. Plugs must be checked or they will fall off and not be visible; Plugged females should be placed into a clean cage and must remain in investigator’s animal room until they are brought to the ES Core on Wednesday morning for embryo harvest.
Wednesday Between 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Bring plugged females to core.

Notes:

  1. Males must be 7 weeks old and should be separated into induvidual cages one week prior to time of set-up.
  2. Females should be between 24-28 days old.
  3. Hormone injections are administered intraperitoneally using a tuberculine syringe in a total volume of 100ul of 50IU/ml. A total of 5IU/100ul should be admisnister to each female. Both hormone concentrations should be at a dose of 5IU/100ul. Core will provide hormones to investigators.
