About Us
The Department of Molecular Virology and Microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine is devoted to discovering new knowledge and producing innovative advances in the microbial sciences and to using that understanding to combat disease. Our interests include microbial pathogenesis, host responses to infection, vaccine development and evaluation, infectious agent disease associations, and the role of the human microbiome in health and disease. Faculty members within the department are nationally recognized leaders in a variety of areas, including the microbiome, viral gastroenteritis, respiratory viruses, emerging infectious diseases, and antimicrobial resistance. We are committed to providing a collaborative intellectual environment, training future leaders in microbial sciences, and informing the public.
Research
Through diverse research projects and approaches, members of the department investigate the role of viruses and bacteria in human health and disease, and strategies to combat microorganisms.
Education
