Clinical Scientist Training Program
The Clinical Scientist Training Program at Baylor College of Medicine is committed to educating and training highly motivated individuals to become successful, independent clinical investigators and future leaders in academic medicine and biomedical research. It is designed primarily for junior faculty and senior sub-specialty fellows at BCM. The program infrastructure is supported by a K-30 grant from the National Institutes of Health. Unfortunately we do not have funds to support individual scholars; all applicants must be supported by their department.
You may join the program for either one year, and receive a "Certificate of Added Qualification," or for two or more years and receive an M.S. or Ph.D. degree from the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. The first year is the same for everyone.
The deadline for application to the program is March 1 of each year, for matriculation on July 1. You must have a position at BCM with at least 75 percent protected time for research and research-related activities. (See the Application Process.)
Fundamentals of Clinical Investigation course open to all
This is a 16-evening course held every year in July. In 2012 we will start Monday, July 2. Lectures are 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., some small group meetings are held at 4:30 or 5 p.m., and sandwiches are served at 5 p.m. To register for the course, simply e-mail your position, department, and BCM ID number to Renee Elawar, relawar@bcm.edu
