Faculty & Research
A graduate program with more than 95 investigators provides exposure to an astonishing diversity of philosophies and approaches to biological science. Numbered among the internationally-recognized CMB faculty are members of the National Academy of Sciences, Investigators in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and recipients of a variety of prestigious awards. Faculty in our program have discovered the molecular basis for one of the most common forms of mental retardation, have crystallized an ABC transporter and pioneered the discovery of a link between p53 and aging. You can read the latest news on BCM faculty including members of CMB by visiting our "From the Labs" site.
But outstanding science is not sufficient. CMB faculty also have a strong and ongoing commitment to graduate education--every prospective CMB faculty member is first carefully evaluated by the CMB Steering Committee for their ability to train graduate students. Thus, when you choose your mentor for your Ph.D. research, you know that this is a person who really knows how to train you to do top-notch basic research.
