Lung Conditions Research

Attention Smokers and Ex-smokers

Are you at least 40 years of age and have trouble breathing or a persistent cough? You may have a disease called Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Research evaluating an investigational product in this disease is being conducted at Baylor College of Medicine. Eligible persons will receive study related medical exams, medication and laboratory tests at no cost while participating in the study. Compensation will also be provided for time and travel. Volunteers With Asthma and Heartburn

People between the ages of 18 and 75 who are having symptoms of both asthma and heartburn are needed for a drug study at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. To be eligible, volunteers must have been treated for chronic, non-seasonal asthma for at least one year. They also must have experienced symptoms of asthma (coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath) and heartburn within the past month. Volunteers must be willing to participate in a clinical study for up to 20 weeks. They will receive free clinic visits, laboratory tests, study procedures and heartburn medication. Asthma

Volunteers 18 years and older, known to have asthma for at least six months and using inhaled rescue drugs (albuterol) are needed and may qualify for a clinical asthma study comparing two asthma medications. Study participants will qualify for study-related pulmonary function testing, free asthma medications and financial compensation. Asthma

African-American volunteers 18 years and older, known to have asthma for at least six months are needed and may qualify for a clinical asthma study comparing two FDA approved asthma medications. Study participants will qualify for study-related pulmonary-function testing, free study-related asthma medications and financial compensation. Chronic Bronchitis/COPD

Volunteers 40 years or older who are either current or x-smokers and have daily cough or known to have COPD (chronic bronchitis) are needed for a study. Study participants will qualify for study-related pulmonary function testing and medications and for financial compensation. If interested and for more information please call 713-873 8772.

Emphysema Study

Men and Women who have emphysema and who have not smoked cigarettes, cigars, or pipes in the last 4 months are needed for a study comparing surgery with medical management of emphysema. To find out more about the National Emphysema Treatment Trial call: 713-798-8009 or 1-800-622-9567.

Attention Smokers or Ex-Smokers

Volunteers are needed for a research study testing a new medication for COPD. Have you been diagnosed with COPD, emphysema or chronic bronchitis? Are you at least 40 years of age? Do you have no known asthma or significant heart conditions? If you answered yes to all three of the above questions, you may qualify to participate in a Baylor College of Medicine research study. Study related medical exams, study laboratory tests and study medications are provided at no cost to qualified participants. Compensation will be provided for time and travel.
