REST for Autism Spectrum Disorders (Healthy Volunteers)
Is your child between 4 and 9 years old with no history of any psychiatric conditions such as ADHD, depression, or anxiety? If so, they may be eligible to participate in a research study on sleep. Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital is studying whether melatonin plays a role in the differences in sleep patterns between children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and children without ASD. To participate, your child will be asked to wear an actigraph for one week – it's like a wristwatch, but it measures their activity level. After that, your child will come in for an overnight stay at Texas Children's Hospital. You will have an opportunity to meet with a pediatric sleep specialist, and your family will be compensated for your time.
