Type 1 Diabetes Study DEFEND1 (H-24075)

Have you been recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes? A nationwide clinical research study is being conducted to find out whether an investigational agent can help preserve your body's ability to make insulin. You may qualify if you are 12 to 45 years of age and have been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes within the last ten weeks. If you qualify and choose to participate, you will receive an initial consultation, study-related examinations, and investigational agent at no cost to you. Compensation for time and travel will be provided.

Pediatric Diabetes (H-22439)

Children with Type 2 Diabetes needed for study. Texas Children's Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine are recruiting study subjects to participate in a research project to see how two new drugs may lower blood sugars. We are seeking children with type 2 diabetes who are 12-21 years old. The study requires one office visit and two overnight stays in a research unit. Financial compensation provided.

Type 2 Diabetes Study (H-24623)

Are you struggling to control your type 2 diabetes? If so, you may qualify to join a research study with a new investigational medication. Baylor College of Medicine is seeking persons 18 years of age and older who are taking ONLY METFORMIN (Glucophage) OR METFORMIN and a SULFONYLUREA for their diabetes and have blood sugars that are NOT under good control. Type 2 Diabetes Study (H-21957)

A clinical study is underway at Baylor College of Medicine to test the effectiveness of an investigational drug in reducing heart and kidney health problems in type 2 diabetics.

To qualify you must be:

  • At least 35 years of age or older
  • Have a confirmed diagnosis of type 2 diabetes
  • Have persistent kidney problems OR have a history of heart disease

Study participants receive study-related medical care at no cost, including physical exams, laboratory tests and study-related medication.

Exercise and Glucose Metabolism Study for Teens

Overweight and normal weight HISPANIC teens (13- 17 years old) are wanted for a study on the effects of a 12-week EXERCISE PROGRAM on sugar and fat metabolism. Must be healthy, not currently enrolled in sports, not taking medications, and all four grandparents must be of Hispanic ethnicity. Would you like a mini vacation? Do You Have Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus? (H-20674)

If so, Baylor College of Medicine is currently looking for diabetics to participate in research studies to evaluate the effectiveness of anti-diabetes medications. You may qualify if you are between the ages of 30-70 -Women must not be pregnant or breast feeding. Qualified participants may receive at no cost: study medications, laboratory testing, EKG, physical exams and dietary counseling.
