COPD Gene Study (H-22209)
Do you smoke? Do you have COPD? If you are between 45 and 80 years of age and have COPD/Emphysema, or if you have a history of cigarette smoking with no known lung disease, you may be eligible to participate in a research study. This study involves one to two visits. You will be compensated for your time and travel. If you would like to be considered for participation in this study, we would like to hear from you. Latino Children with Asthma (H-22861)
Do you have asthma? Investigators are seeking Latino children with asthma for a 60-90 minute visit. Participants will need to have asthma, be 8-21 years of age, complete a questionnaire, give blood, have their lung function tested, have skin testing for common allergies, and have parental consent if under 18 years. The study may require additional tests to confirm asthma diagnosis.

Asthma Studies
If you have asthma and are currently taking daily asthma medications, you may qualify for a research study investigating the role of a new inhaled medication on asthma. Participants will receive asthma study medications and have study related tests free of charge. Compensation for time, transportation and parking is provided.

Children's Asthma Study
Study of Acid Reflex in Children with Asthma (SARCA) is a research study being conducted at Texas Children Hospital/BCM. If your child currently takes an inhaled corticosteroid for asthma, he or she may be able to participate in this study. Study-related medical care, lung function testing and study-related medicines are provided at no cost to you or your insurance company. Children who are between 6 and 17 yrs of age; have not smoked in the last six months and are not currently taking any daily prescription medicine for acid reflux may be eligible.
