Smithsonian honors CFAR's Dr. Rios with Latino Legacy Award
The Smithsonian Latino Center in Washington, D.C., will present Dr. Adan Rios a 2009 Legacy Award in the field of science. The presentation will be held in October. Dr. Rios, a native of the Republic of Panama, is an associate professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Medical School and a member of the Baylor- UT Houston Center for AIDS Research.
Dr. Rios is being honored for his accomplishments in outlining a new methodology for the development of a preventative HIV vaccine, founding the Conference on AIDS in America (1988), and his work on AIDS-related cancers.Read more on this award and Dr. Rios.
