About the CFAR

The Baylor-UTHouston CFAR is a federally funded center designed to support and facilitate multidisciplinary AIDS-related research. The CFAR has been located at Baylor since 1991. A CFAR partnership with the University of Texas at Houston was established in 2005. The CFAR is part of a nationwide network of AIDS research centers.

The mission of the CFAR is to support and facilitate multidisciplinary AIDS-related research activities at Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas- Houston. AIDS research findings have an impact on many other areas of medical research. Examples of these broad benefits include new insights into normal cell functions, normal immune responses, how viruses cause disease, and the development of new technologies.
