Chief of the Division of Hematology/Medical Oncology

at Baylor College of Medicine and
the Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center

The Department of Medicine and the Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine announce a search for the Chief of the Division of Hematology/Medical Oncology.  Baylor College of Medicine, a top ten medical school, is affiliated with five teaching hospitals with a large and diverse cancer patient population.  The successful candidate will serve as the leader of the Baylor Hematology/Oncology Programs in all affiliated hospitals and will also serve, if desired, as Deputy Director of the Cancer Center.  The successful candidate will have 10 faculty recruiting slots and 10,000 sq.ft. of new laboratory space in addition to existing space for program development. The candidate should have leadership experience and accomplishments in clinical, translational or basic research. The successful candidate will be provided a Duncan Endowed Chair.  The Cancer Center includes eight outstanding integrated Research Programs in Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Cell and Gene Therapy, Nuclear Receptors, Pediatric Cancer, Prevention and Population Science, Cancer Biology, and Molecular Carcinogenesis.  Strong programs in Cancer Stem Cells, Molecular Profiling of Cancer, GI/Pancreas/Liver Cancer, Animal Models of Cancer and Lymphoma provide additional expertise.  Nine Shared Resources are available to Cancer Center members. The Human Genome Sequencing Center, an RNAi High Throughput Screening Core Facility, and a Chemical Genomics Screening Program are unique additional resources.

The 280 members of the Cancer Center grants more than $100M annually in cancer-related research funding including three SPORE grants in Breast, Prostate, and Lymphoma.  The Center is the recipient of a $100M naming gift from the Duncan family.  The College is building a new hospital and outpatient complex in the Texas Medical Center.
