Translational Research Programs
The activities of the four translational research programs include everything from basic research in the laboratories to clinical care at our affiliated healthcare institutions.
These programs are supported by many sources including NCI SPORE grants in Prostate, Breast and Lymphoma.
Basic Research Programs
Bert W. O'Malley, M.D., serves as associate director for Basic Research. At present our focus is in three major areas:
Prevention and Population Sciences Program
This program, headed by Powel H. Brown, M.D., Ph.D., is actively engaged in defining better approaches to cancer prevention. Along with the Duncan Cancer Center, it sponsors major outreach programs to the public and to minority communities. Dr. Brown also serves as associate director for Cancer Prevention, Outreach, and Health Services.
