The Cain Foundation Fellowship Program

Through the generosity of Foundation trustees, the Cain Foundation Fellowship Program was inaugurated in 2000 to recruit and train promising young scientists from around the world in areas of neurological research.

The Fellowship Program provides interim funding for child neurologists who enter the laboratory after completion of their medical residency training.  This financial assistance provides trainees the academic freedom needed to obtain preliminary data  for competitive NIH grant applications.

The Fellowship Program also supports outstanding basic molecular and developmental neuroscientists in conducting research on disorders of brain development.  These trainees also receive transitional Program funding until NIH grant support is obtained.

The mission of the Fellowship Program is to train a new generation of basic scientists in areas of cutting-edge neurological research, leading to breakthroughs in the understanding and treatment of intractable epilepsy and other disorders of brain development in children.
