The Biology of Inflammation Center was established by Baylor College of
Medicine in 2001 to provide an efficient infrastructure for a critical
mass of investigators
and clinicians involved in biomedical research pertaining to the pathophysiology
and treatment of human diseases resulting from inflammation. The mission
of the center is to advance knowledge on the basic mechanisms of inflammation
and to develop novel therapeutics for inflammatory disorders. The
center facilitates collaborative research
among faculty in the basic science and clinical departments and enables
more effective communication of biomedical research advances to both scientific
colleagues and the public. Complementary to research are training
programs for M.D.'s and Ph.D.'s, which help develop the future
thought leaders in biomedical research on inflammation and in the care
of patients with inflammatory
diseases.
