Oversight and guidance of the Center are provided through a director, an executive committee and an advisory council. (Refer to organizational chart.) David P. Huston, M.D., Cullen professor of immunology, departments of medicine and immunology, and chief, immunology allergy and rheumatology section, serves as director of the Center. The executive committee comprises four senior faculty representing diverse interests within the Center: Richard G. Cook, Ph.D., professor of immunology; Mark L. Entman, M.D., professor of medicine, biochemistry & molecular biology and pathology and chief, cardiovascular sciences section; C. Wayne Smith, M.D., professor of pediatrics and immunology and head, leukocyte biology section; and David J. Tweardy, M.D., professor of medicine and chief, infectious diseases section. Under the director's leadership, the executive committee oversees administrative support of the Center, educational missions of the Center, affiliations with industry and maintenance of research support cores within the Center as well as promotes interactions of Center members with the spectrum of complementary research programs and centers at Baylor. The advisory council provides community involvement in the Center and assists in management of the fund-raising process. Members include donors, medical students, postdoctoral trainees, faculty advisers and development staff.
