Clinical Research Trials

As a research-intensive medical school, Baylor College of Medicine is dedicated to the discovery of new ways to cure disease and improve health. Baylor Clinic patients have an opportunity to take part in that discovery through participation in the latest clinical trials, receiving expert medical care from investigators that rank among the leading specialists in their fields.

A clinical trial is a research study that uses volunteers to answer specific health questions. Carefully conducted clinical trials are the safest and fastest way for scientists to find effective treatments and new ways to improve human health. A clinical trial may be conducted to see if a new drug or medical device is effective, to compare the effectiveness of different treatments, or to study different ways to use existing treatments to make them more effective.

The collaborative approach that makes Baylor Clinic's patient care so effective is having an equally positive impact on our scientific research. An increasing number of research projects are taking an integrated approach, involving departments and investigators from different fields. This enhanced collaboration promises to decrease the length of time it takes to turn new discoveries into patient therapies.

I was very impressed with the interior of the building - it was the first time I had been here. I found your staff to be professional, courteous and friendly. When I went in for my scan, I appreciated how friendly my caregiver was, how she took the time to explain the procedure, and her skill at drawing blood. This place is first class.
