Research
The Department of Anesthesiology's Research Division includes full-time Ph.D. faculty and technicians. The research team performs basic and clinical research, sponsors collaborative research opportunities for the clinical faculty, provides analytical support for the Department, trains residents, fellows and students in research, consults in experimental design, assists in manuscript and grant preparation and promotes research within the Department.
Third year clinical anesthesia residents pursuing the Clinical Scientist Track participate in these research activities. In previous years, residents in the Clinical Scientist Track have presented original work at a number of national meetings, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists annual meeting.
Cerebrovascular Research Laboratory
The focus of the Cerebrovascular Laboratory is the investigation of cellular and integrative mechanisms involved in the regulation of the cerebral circulation during both physiological and pathophysiological states (stroke and traumatic brain injury).
