The BCM Fund

Gifts to the BCM Fund touch each of Baylor College of Medicine's core commitments, and allow the College to continue to deliver tomorrow's medicine today.

BCM medical student Wilbur Dattilo

"I am the eighth out of nine children born in a working class family. Neither of my parents went to college, and neither they nor I ever dreamed that I would become a doctor," says Wilbur Dattilo, M.D., Class of 2011.

"I am deeply grateful to those who contribute to the BCM Fund. Through their generous contributions, someone of my limited financial means could access cutting edge research, educational, and clinical opportunities."

In a research institution like BCM, new discoveries happen every day. When you make a gift to the BCM Fund, we can explore these discoveries immediately, without a delay to secure additional funding from public or private entities.

Innovations in education and patient care need testing to prove their effectiveness. A strong BCM Fund can underwrite promising pilot projects.

A modest gift to the BCM Fund can have as great an impact on the College today as a large endowed gift can have in perpetuity. A $1 million BCM Fund has the same buying power as the annual distribution from a $20 million endowment!

In short, a gift to the BCM Fund is a vote of confidence in the future of our institution. Last year, more than 1,400 friends of the College - grateful patients, alumni, employees and more - donated nearly $650,000 to the BCM Fund. Your gift, each year, every year, keeps the BCM Fund strong.
