Mission Statement

The Department of Pediatrics seeks to provide programs of instruction for medical students, residents seeking board certification, and for board-certified/board-eligible pediatricians through contact with teachers who understand all aspects of child health and who appreciate, understand, and effectively communicate the application of basic pathophysiologic concepts to clinical problems. An equally important objective of the Department is to advance general and subspecialty knowledge in the medical sciences, particularly as it relates to the health problems of children. The Department seeks to be recognized as a potent force in the local and national community as an advocate for child health activities and as a major contributor to research training and scientific activities directed toward enhancing the health of children everywhere.
