Mission Statement
The Department of Neurosurgery at Baylor College of Medicine is committed to providing the highest quality of neurosurgical care for patients who have an illness or injury that affects the brain, spine, or peripheral nerves, and to excellence in teaching and research to support our commitment.
Through the hospitals affiliated with our department, we offer the full range of modern neurosurgical techniques, including transsphenoidal surgery, skull-base surgery, spinal surgery, spinal instrumentation, brachial plexus surgery, peripheral nerve surgery, stereotactic surgery for movement disorders, stereotactic radiosurgery, epilepsy surgery, pediatric neurosurgery and craniofacial reconstructive surgery.
Education & Training Programs
The seven-year (including an integrated internship) Neurosurgery Residency Program focuses on providing broad academic, clinical and research experience.
Current Research
Research is integral to the department's clinical and academic goals. The department has approximately 7,000 square feet of well-equipped basic science laboratory space, as well as facilities for clinical research. Current major research projects include:

Centers & Clinics
The full-time faculty of the Department of Neurosurgery provides adult and pediatric neurosurgical care primarily through its offices and clinics in the Baylor Clinic and Texas Children's Hospital.
